New course for Glasgow Chamber of Commerce: Person-Centred Leadership and Voice
I’m really excited to be working with my friend and collaborator, Fiona Taylor, on a new course for Glasgow Chamber of Commerce called: Person-Centred Leadership and Voice.
The day introduces participants to the ethos of person-centred leadership. Carl Rogers, the grandfather of the approach, saw that the quality of a relationship between people directly impacted the growth of prosperity of individuals and organisations.
We will work on getting the most from our relationships and translating the benefits to our organisations and customers. We will practice being present, listening and connecting to others in the group.
We have a practical approach, and there will be many opportunities to practice your skills, get feedback and improve.
After lunch, the second half of the day focuses on your voice and how you present yourself through storytelling and presentation. There will be plenty of hints and tips available to bring out your best.
We end with an opportunity to share your experiences and learnings of the day.

Workshop Descriptor
The topic of leadership is abundant everywhere, from bookshops to online platforms, and the proliferation of material is enormous.
With the growth of personal branding, no self-respecting CEO can miss the opportunity to write a memoir on how they found the elixir of success during their tenure as a leader.
With leadership becoming an industry and so much material available, it is unsurprising the topic has become confused.
Yet it need not be so. Fiona and Andrew will seek to distil leadership down into its simplest form. The workshop promotes leadership as a positive, fluid relationship from which all parties can thrive, rather than the activities taught in business literature.
Trust, understanding and alignment can grow, critical ingredients for a thriving organisation by concentrating on how we relate to one another.

Fiona’s Biography
Fiona Taylor is an author, speaker, and coach, teaching more than 40,000 people worldwide to use their most valuable gift, their voice.
At just seventeen, she won a National Public speaking competition, went on to debate at Glasgow University and delivered her seminal paper on the voice at the International Speaking Conference at Oxford University.
She perfected her approach during her tenure as a performance and speech coach at Sky Broadcasting Group.
Fiona has subsequently worked as both a trainer and a coach designing customised leadership programmes with voice coaching at their core. She is a keynote speaker for various sectors, coordinating international conferences and delivering workshops.
“Your voice is your most valuable free asset. However, no matter how much knowledge you have, your voice can devalue what you are saying.”
She was a founder of the International Coaching Cooperative, promoting good communication skills in business.
Latterly, Fiona has sat on several boards as a non-executive director, including Glasgow Kelvin College, and Director of Women’s Aid – ensuring every woman’s voice is heard.
Andrew’s Biography
Andrew is an executive leadership coach and international management consultant, specialising in building positive, generative relationships within organisations.
He first encountered deep listening in the corporate consulting world during the 1990s, giving his clients time and space to think and reflect. Amazed at how well this developed trusting, empathic relationships between client and consultant, he continued to grow this into a person-centred approach in his executive coaching business.
“Leadership is an important responsibility, and businesspeople have great knowledge and experience. However, as organisations grow, this is often not enough. A deliberate way to building relationships is needed”.
Andrew designs practical and immersive leadership development programmes and teaches postgraduate coaching and mentoring to senior leaders.
